Have you ever heard of native advertising? If you are reading this, there is about a 100% chance you’ve been subjected to it. Native advertising is basically where advertisements are disguised as legitimate news stories in mainstream print and online news media. It’s a rather disturbing trend, and one that helps undermine what little trust the public has left in our journalistic institutions.
If you are savvy enough to pick up on this and how to spot this you’ll see how it this is problematic. It’s advertising something to you secretly without you knowing on a subconscious level while pretending to be news. It’s almost like brainwashing. And most people can’t and don’t realize it.
