Income inequality in the United States has reached astronomical levels. The top one percent hold most of the wealth in the United States. And we continue to shoot ourselves in the foot with a quality that has proven to be our gift and curse.
We as American’s are too optimistic. We know we are a nation of haves but we also think we are a nation of soon-to-haves. We think we all will make it and that hope and optimism keeps driving up the wealth gap in this country. The rich know this and feed off of it. That’s one of the reasons why people play the lottery and gamble so much.
